Even though Akuma can attack his target monsters with his default moves, he can also wield the weapons from MH Rise. After all, players can just use the layered armor to transform their characters into him. His default attacks might not offer much damage but it is a good way to enjoy trying out his attacks in a whole new game.

As you can see from the new trailer, Akuma will feature in Monster Hunter Rise in Hunter Layer Armor form, which players can earn as a reward for completing an accompanying event quest. The dark master comes rocking his flame-red mane from Street Fighter V and loaded for bear with all of his trademark moves such as Gohadoken, Tatsumaki Zankyukaku, and the devastating Sekia Kuretsuha. Wrath of the Raging Demon has to be in the mix somehow.

We also see Akuma using both a bow & arrow and an actual gun, which is just… bizarre, frankly. Personally, I would’ve loved to see kutesy kunoichi Ibuki in this crossover role — she’d fit perfectly within Monster Hunter’s rural, tactical attack universe. Still, dem gamerz love their dark ‘n’ edgy boiz, so Akuma it is.

If players equip a sword and shield, their attacks will morph into punches and kicks as shown in the trailer. A Perfect Rush dishes out a deadly combo, and Akuma’s special moves can be unleashed by using various Silkband attacks in the game. The post also teases a special surprise, and asks the player to pose with their weapon drawn in order to see it. Akuma has already been featured in other games like Tekken 7, so it comes as no surprise that he gets the highlight in the latest Capcom collaboration event for Monster Hunter Rise.
