MultiVersus Update 1.03 Massively Nerfs XP and Progression

According to the patch notes from developer Player First Games, the XP requirements for progressing from level 3 to level 15 have been doubled. The developer says that it’s making the change because it felt that players were progressing through the levels too quickly, and it wanted to “make it a bit more of a journey.”

MultiVersus Update 1.03 Patch Notes

General

  • Rick Sanchez joins MultiVersus! Rick is a new Mage character who joins the roster.
  • The XP required to go from level 3 – 15 on the character mastery track has been doubled
  • We found that players could reach level 15 of the mastery track too quickly. This is to help us make it a bit more of a journey.
  • Loading performance improvements for PS4 and Xbox One.
  • The first free character after completing the intro tutorial has switched to Shaggy from Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman can now be purchased for gold or shine.
  • Attack extinction steps have been added to the intro tutorial.
  • Fixed an issue in Coop-Versus-AI that caused only Wonder Woman and Reindog bots to appear.
  • Fixed a bug where some players could not equip profile icons.
  • Fixed a bug where the game would occasionally freeze at the end of the game screen.

Twitch extension

  • Minor visual bug fixes
  • Added ‘Fighter Voting’ that allows broadcasters to poll their audience on which fighter to play, viewers with MultiVersus get bonus votes.
  • Added the ability for viewers who have MultiVersus to claim free toast from Twitch channels running the extension.

Anti-infinite combo system

  • We’ve implemented a new anti-infinite combo system that will destroy all subsequent attacks if the same attack has been used 4 or more times in the same real combo. The goal is to put a global soft cap on infinite combos and make combos more creative. We hope the change prompts players to explore new and more exciting combo routes.
  • We thought the maximum number of the same attack was 3, but we wanted to evaluate the change more slowly. We are going to evaluate the change and are open to feedback on how we can improve the system!
  • The option to choose between 4 directions or 8 directions for the right joystick control (c-stick) has been added to the settings menu.

Projectile Systems

  • We will continue to update projectile systems in this patch. The most notable addition is the inclusion of a new “Light Projectile” rating for projectiles that have no recoil. The only light projectiles in the game for now are Rick’s unloaded blaster and the pies fired by the Neptr auxiliary item.

Teaser Trailer for Rick in MultiVersus.

Rick is said to be a Ranged character who has expertise in attacking enemies from a distance; both of the roles fit the characters well. The Special moves of Rick and Morty in MultiVersus are yet to be released, but they will surely be pretty exciting as well.

The primary information about Rick and Morty in MultiVerus reveals that Morty is most likely to be an expert in long to mid-range attacks, having possessions of throwables such as mines and grenades. On the other hand, Rick will be more efficient in close-quarter fights where he can show his skills through quick melee attacks and fast movements.

Abilities

Rick and Morty are companions that always stay together. So, considering that in mind, the developers have assigned their roles in the game respectively. One is good in close-ranged combats, while the other dominates the battlefield through its ranged abilities. Together, Rick and Morty make a perfect combo in MultiVersus.

Rick will be equipped with a large Portal Weapon, which will enable him to distract the opponents with his portal opening abilities. He might also take assistance from Mr. Meeseeks in his fights by spawning him through opening a portal.

On the other hand, Morty may not have advanced gadgets along with him, but his Bruiser abilities will make him a deadly close-range fighter. He can assert dominance on his opponents through his quick and heavy attacks, which will deal massive damage upon a successful hit.

EXTREME MODE?

Shown in our trailer revealed at Tokyo Game Show, Extreme Battle is a new addition to Fighting Ground which adds fun and unexpected parameters to your matches. Each Extreme Battle contains a Rule and a Gimmick. A Rule is the conditions that must be met to win the match. For example, you can set the Rule to “First to get five knockdowns wins!” A Gimmick on the other hand, adds an extra layer of delight. Examples are a stampeding bull that runs through the level and deals damage, a Met from Mega Man that can shock you, and more wacky surprises to amp up the excitement and challenge in Street Fighter 6. This is a mode for those who want something different from the usual fights. If you want to survive in the world of extreme battling, luck is every bit as important as technique!

While they will commentate your matches in Japanese, there will be accompanying English subtitles on the screen if they are selected.

A closed beta too!

Get Ready!

The aim of the closed beta test is for us to monitor the play experience of participants, identify any potential issues, and then address them in order to improve the quality of the game.
As such, it is possible that errors may occur during the test that cause the game to freeze or close during gameplay.
The test sessions will use a version of the game still in development. As a result, we cannot guarantee a smooth gameplay experience. Please bear all of this in mind when taking part in the test.

A survey for feedback to be shared with the development and operation teams will be sent out to everyone who participates in the closed beta test.
We would really appreciate if all of the closed beta test participants answer the survey as fully as possible.
Note: Please understand that not all requests and suggestions provided through the survey will be implemented.
