Hibiki is the daughter of Genzō Takane (高嶺 源蔵, Takane Genzō), a renowned swordsmith known throughout Japan during the Bakumatsu era. He had retired to an isolated area in the countryside with his daughter but continued his work with various swordsmen around the country. One fateful day, a silver-haired man approaches Genzō and requests that he forge a new sword. Though the man radiated an aura of pure, unfathomable evil, the master swordsmith finds himself unable to refuse the request. He spends a time of almost 3 months forging this sword, which he dubs the “Yaso Magatsu Hi no Tachi” (八十枉津日太刀, “Blade of Eighty Days Harbored Unwillingly”), detailing the amount of time he invested in the weapon. The labor renders him ill, however, and he is soon permanently bedridden.

He tells his daughter that the silver-haired man was the reason for his condition, and that she should pursue him and the sword that he had forged. With a concerned Hibiki by his side, he utters his last words: “The thing that I saw… that I felt, even you must understand.” Though she was confused by her father’s cryptic request, Hibiki gathers her belongings and leaves in search of the silver-haired man.

Several days later, a man named Hyo Amano stops by, hoping that Genzō would repair his weapon, the “Otokomae”, when he learns of the swordsmith’s death, he sets out to find his daughter.

Hibiki has two endings in the game; in one of them she visits her father’s grave and decides to improve her swordsmanship which can be gained if the player defeats every opponent they face in Arcade mode with her super moves. In the other ending should the player not use her super moves to finish all opponents, she tells her father that now she has a “companion“.

Fighting Style

Musō Shinden-ryū is a real style and an anachronism for the game; the style was not founded until 1932. It is a branch of Iaido. Some of her basic attacks bear some resemblance to Ukyo Tachibana‘s, where it involves frequent quick-draws, dashing-based slashes, as well as some solid counterattacks that require some precision but can prove to be fatal if landed correctly.

In Capcom vs. SNK 2, her Speed Mode ‘Custom Combos’ AKA the Ranbu Ōgi from Last Blade 2 is given to her as a normal super move. In addition she has slightly different animations for her supers in Capcom vs. SNK 2, with the blood being replaced by sparks.

Hibiki is among the few characters in CvS2 who has a unique winpose, if she defeats someone with her original SDM/Senzai Ōgi, with her hair untied as a result of her attack connecting. It’s a visual cue that the landed attack will be fatal for the enemy.

PlayStation Buys Evo Fighting Game Championship Series, Announces 2021 Event Dates, Nintendo Comments – IGN

SIE Blog – English – The latest in news and updates from Sony Interactive Entertainment

Sony Interactive Entertainment and new esports venture RTS have jointly acquired the Evolution Championship Series

Sony’s statement said the Cannons will “ensure that Evo remains a one-of-a-kind, grassroots competitive platform for fighting game players and fans around the globe.” None of the parties to the deal revealed the cost of the acquisition, and Sony and Endeavor are likewise silent on their stakes and ownership split in the RTS venture.

Evo Online will take place Aug. 6-8 and Aug. 13-15 as an open format tournament, offering free entry to players in North America, Latin America, Europe, and Asia. The tournament lineup features Tekken 7, Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition, Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate, and Guilty Gear Strive, which launches in June.

“We want to reaffirm that harassment or abuse of any kind has no place within Evo or any of our future events, and we’re taking every precaution to make sure members of our community will always be treated with the respect, dignity, and decency you deserve,” reads the letter.

Also very important to note. @EVO is still open to all platforms. The teams at PlayStation and RTS are enabling us to continue working with our community to support fighting games.— Mark Julio (マークマン) (@MarkMan23) March 18, 2021

24 years later, under a tree, was waiting Samurai Shodown 64 as a prototype cart for the Hyper Neo Geo 64

Interesting story.

The Hyper Neo Geo 64 is an arcade system created by SNK, and released in September 1997, as the successor of the Neo Geo MVS, within the Neo Geo family.

It is the first and only SNK hardware set capable of rendering in 3D, and was meant to replace SNK’s older MVS system on the market. Company executives planned for the project to bring SNK into the new era of 3D gaming that had arisen during the mid-1990s, and had planned for a corresponding home system to replace the aging and expensive AES home console.

Although details regarding the planned home system are sparse, it is believed that like the AES console, much of the hardware from the Neo Geo 64 arcade platform would also have been present in the home system, meaning gameplay would be identical or nearly identical whether a given game was played at home or in the arcade. It is unknown what media the home system would have used.

However it never managed to match the huge success of the MVS, and reached its end of life in 1999. Only seven games were produced for the arcade variation of the system, none of which proved particularly popular, and the project was discontinued. The proposed home system never got beyond initial planning stages and only one of the arcade games, Fatal Fury: Wild Ambition, has been ported to home systems.

Samurai Shodown 64, known as Samurai Spirits (SAMURAI SPIRITS ~侍魂~, Samurai Supirittsu) in Japan, is a 3Dfighting game produced by SNK for its Hyper Neo-Geo 64 system. It was SNK’s first 3D fighting game. After having released four Samurai Shodown games on the Neo-Geo, SNK announced that they would be producing a new arcade hardware platform, this one 64-bit and with extensive 3D capabilities. Although it was never ported to home consoles, it was followed by a second 3D installment titled Samurai Shodown 64: Warriors Rage. 64: Warriors Rage was not released outside of Japan.

Cham Cham trailer appeared for Samurai Shodown #snk #embracedeath #samuraishodown with a collab with Guilty Gear

Cham Cham (チャムチャム, Chamu Chamu) is a character from the Samurai Shodown series who was introduced in Samurai Shodown II. She replaced Tam Tam’s role in the cast. She is the only character of the series to star in her own pachinko game.

She is the younger sister of the character Tam Tam. She secretly took a village heirloom, the “Tangiers Stone” (タンジルストーン, Tanjiru Sutōn), to play with when a goblin snatched it away. She thought her parents would be angry because of it so she sets out with her pet chimpanzee “Paku Paku” (who is actually Tam Tam transformed as punishment for his failure to protect the stone) in order to look for it.

She is an energetic and optimistic girl. She’s not the smartest one of her tribe, easily angered if she thinks she’s being insulted, but she shares her brother’s bravery.

Fighting Style

Cham Cham is a catgirl in appearance and has feline mannerisms; for example, she walks on all fours when disarmed (she holds her weapon in one hand when she has it). Her taunts are also animalistic (in one, she meows and stretches like a cat, while in the other, she sits on her haunches and scratches behind her ear with her foot). Her boomerang can be thrown high into the air or at ground level, leaving her unarmed for a time; however, this may not be a total disadvantage, as her claws and kicks are enough to keep her foes at bay. Paku Paku may also be summoned to attack for her, which includes throwing skulls, emitting fireballs, and a spinning spit-kick attack.
